The Fundo de Estradas (FE) of Mozambique is the primary public institution responsible for financing the development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of the country’s road infrastructure. Established to ensure sustainable funding for the road sector, the Fundo de Estradas operates under the supervision of the Government of Mozambique.
Its mission is to mobilise, manage, and allocate financial resources efficiently to support a safe, reliable, and sustainable road network that contributes to the country’s social and economic development. The institution plays a key role in funding major road projects and supporting national and regional transport corridors that enhance trade, connectivity, and mobility.
The Fundo de Estradas also works closely with development partners and stakeholders to support road sector programmes, particularly those aimed at improving access in rural and underserved areas.
