On 4th November 2025, the African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) proudly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), marking a significant milestone in advancing capacity building and technical excellence across Africa’s road sector.

This partnership represents more than a formal agreement; it reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the institutional and professional capabilities of Road Maintenance Funds (RMFs) throughout the continent. As Africa continues to expand and modernize its infrastructure networks, the need for skilled professionals, innovative training, and collaborative research has never been greater.

Through this collaboration, ARMFA and KIHBT will focus on:

  • Developing specialized training programmes tailored to the evolving needs of Road Funds and road sector professionals.
  • Enhancing knowledge sharing and research, creating platforms for technical exchange and best practice dissemination across member countries.
  • Strengthening professional competencies to ensure sustainable road maintenance, improved asset management, and long-term infrastructure resilience.

KIHBT’s longstanding expertise in highways and building technology, combined with ARMFA’s continental network and mandate, creates a powerful synergy. Together, we aim to equip African Road Funds with the practical skills, modern tools, and strategic insights required to deliver safer, more resilient, and better-maintained road networks.

Sustainable road maintenance is fundamental to economic growth, regional integration, and social development. By investing in human capital and institutional capacity, we are laying the groundwork for stronger transport systems that support trade, mobility, and inclusive development across Africa.

ARMFA remains committed to fostering partnerships that drive innovation, professionalism, and excellence in the road maintenance sector. This MoU with KIHBT is a decisive step forward in that journey.

🌍 Together, we are investing in people, skills, and sustainable infrastructure for Africa’s future.
