ARMFA‑AFERA Receives President Eng. Rashid Kalimbaga at Headquarters in Nairobi Kenya

The President of The African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA‑AFERA‑AAFME), Eng. Rashid Kalimbaga, Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Roads Fund Board (RFB), carried out a working visit to the ARMFA Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, where he engaged with senior stakeholders driving the Association’s strategic vision and operations.

As part of the visit, Eng. Kalimbaga paid a courtesy call to the Director General of the Kenya Roads Board (KRB), Madam Judith Otsyula. They discussed steps to strengthen regional collaboration, align policy and institutional reforms, and explore joint financing mechanisms to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of road maintenance programmes. Conversations emphasised sharing best practices, improving governance of road funds, and promoting coordinated approaches to routine and periodic maintenance across member countries.

Eng. Kalimbaga also conferred with consultants from PEWMU to review ARMFA’s financial and institutional strengthening initiatives. Discussions focused on progress made in capacity building, the design of transparent management frameworks, and strategies to mobilise long‑term finance. The meetings reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to building resilient institutions capable of delivering measurable improvements in road network performance and setting best-practice standards for the region.

The mission included a visit to the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI), underscoring ARMFA‑AFERA’s commitment to partnerships, innovation, and digital capacity building. Discussions explored opportunities for joint training, development of data systems for asset management, and knowledge exchange to support modernised approaches to road maintenance across the continent.

 

These engagements highlight ARMFA‑AFERA’s continued dedication to strengthening cooperation, fostering innovation, and advancing sustainable financing solutions for road maintenance in Africa. The Association will continue to work with member institutions and partners to translate these strategic discussions into practical actions that improve connectivity and economic resilience across the region.
